The first brand new vehicle we purchased was a 1987 (D reg) Mercedes 1617. It was fitted with a second-hand body off an older vehicleMAN M90 This was one of two we took delivery of in 1988, the first type of this model to arrive in the country. Commercial Motor came and took some pictures of the new arrivals.
6 Wheeler REL
This was our first REL vehicle which was purchased second hand from Glasgow City Council. We ran it for a short while and realised it just wasn't big enough. It was sold and later spotted by one of the directors (while on holiday) in Malta. The picture shows it when we first had it, when we sprayed it in our colours and finally when it was spotted in Malta.Leyland Constructor six-wheeler
MAN
This picture was taken in 1989 when the NFU first began to insure Peak Waste.The third picture was in the April 1989 edition of Commercial Motor as it was the first MAN M90 17 tonner to go into service in the UK.
REL to Rollon-off
E494 UON Volvo FL7 (very underpowered) from Municipal Vehicle Hire in Birmingham, this vehicle had a fire in the body (destroying the body) so it was converted into a Rollon-off vehicle with the fitting of a second hand body.Skip Lorries
